Looking for one of the best remote control tools?
Not so long ago, remote management was affordable only for big companies.
Licensing was mostly per device / user.
At that time, VNC became extremely popular.
Not only because ease of use, but also for it’s price, UVNC one of the most popular
VNC server / clients was free.
Once Windows Vista was released, VNC solutions had problems, and needed time to evolve.
One of the biggest problems was UAC – it did not display password prompt,
start menu and listing of open programs was also problematic.
Intelli admin solved all of this problems plus it has another great feature that admins
really appreciate – remote push.
If you want to connect to computer and dont have any vnc server or other remote
control software installed, IntelliAdmin Remote Control will automatically install the server
and second later you are connected to computer.
How cool is that?
How is IntelliAdmin Remote Control in use?
Lets take a look at the program.
UI is very simple, just enter the name of computer and connect.
You can populate username & password in the settings so that
you don’t have to enter credentials every time.
I should mention that you can also click on find, then you will be shown
a list of computers that are on the network.
There are many settings that enable you to make it work for your environment.
Below you can see how it looks when you are connected:
Your client can know that you are connected to their computer or you can enable spy mode, in that case they will not.
Another feature is that if you connect to remote desktop server, you can easily select users session and log in.
They provide add on called Enterprise remote control priced at $599, with the server you are able to support
your users where ever they are, without additional monthly fees or per user pricing.
It works through firewalls so you don’t have any problems with configuring firewall.
Pricing for the client?
Price $199.00 – per administrator (no client limit)
Upgrade protection $35.00 per year per administrator.
Is it good?
Well, I use it for supporting my clients and and I can tell you first hand –
It works quite well, it has minor bugs though.
Currently problems are:
sometimes windows would not minimize,
if you use keyboard layout other than English, English layout will be set on the client.
Sometimes server push does not work, but the second or third time it will install the server.
Also sometimes it would not connect to client, but second or third time it will.
But if it has this problems, why do you use it?
Support is good and responsive, if you have a problem, they will respond soon,
and provide you with a fix, and soon next version is released with included fixes.
All in all, product is reliable and problems mentioned will be resolved soon.
What about competition?
Not long ago, there were none, at least for this money.
But now, Solarwinds has bought company Damware which had one of the best
remote control software.
They have released DameWare Mini Remote Control which sell for about
$100. For less than half the money you get similar features.
Another product they have is called remote support, that one
sells for about $380, but has more features than the mini.
I will do review in the near future and compare it to IntelliAdmin.
Intelliadmin works for us, if you have requirement for remote control,
you can download 30 day trial and see for yourself if the product suits your
needs. By the time you do that I am confident that bugs mentioned wont be present
in the product.
You can click here: Intelliadmin to visit product page.
I hope you found review helpful, until next time – take care.
Update 22/8/2013: After 8 months of use I say that updates made this product very solid, I think I will stick with it.
